　人間たちと仲良くなりたい赤鬼に、
青鬼はある提案をします。
それは、村で大暴れする青鬼を、...
赤鬼がやっつけるという筋書きでした・・・

「泣いた赤おに」は私の大好きな本の一つです。
「アカとアオ」を書こうと思ったのも
きっかけはこの本です。

子どもの頃にこの物語を読んだ時に感じたのは、
青鬼の優しさと、大切な友達が
離れて行ってしまったという
淋しさ、悲しさでした。

大人になって改めて読むと、
青鬼が村を離れる覚悟であの提案をしたのには、
もっと深い理由があったのかもしれない、
と思いました。

実は青鬼自身も心の奥底では、
鬼と人間が共存、共生する世界を
望んでいたのではないか？

たとえ自分が村を去らなくては
ならなくなったとしても、
心優しい赤鬼が鬼と人間の
架け橋になってくれたら…

いつか皆が一緒に楽しく
暮らせるようになったら…

もしかしたら青鬼は
誰よりも強くそんな夢を
描いていたのかもしれません。

赤鬼が人間たちと本当の意味で仲良くなって、
お互いを心から受け入れられるようになった時、
きっと青鬼はまた姿を見せてくれるのではないでしょうか。

この「泣いた赤おに」という物語は、
読む度にいろんな教え、気づきを感じられる名作です。

When Ao-oni knew that Aka-oni really wanted to make friends with villagers, he gave him a suggestion.
It was to put up a false show in order to fullfill Aka-oni's wish.

This book is one of my favorites. It gave me an opportunity to think about writing an original book, "Aka and Ao".

When I read it in my childfood, I felt Ao-oni's kindness, Aka-oni's feeling of sadness when he knew Ao-oni left the village.

Now I read it again as an adult, I thought that Ao-oni had an another reason why he left the village.

What if Ao-oni hoped to make peaceful coexistence between Oni and human-beings? Even though he had to leave the village, if Aka-oni, who had a kind heart, could become a bridge between them, if someday, oni and people can live together peacefully... Ao-oni might have had the dream strongly more than anyone else.

When Aka-oni and the villagers truly understand and accept each other from their heart, Ao-oni might make an appearance in front of them.

"Naita Aka-oni" gives us different kinds of thoughts everytime we read it.
